Very very recently this site was recast with a new look and feel. I have to give props to Tim Ferriss for the tip to get in with the 99 Designs platform where I found my design crew to jumpstart the entire thing. Lesson learned: crowd sourcing creative services rocks and it doesn’t cost as much as you would think – both in terms of time and money. Very good chance, I’ll continue to leverage that platform and the designer that ultimately won my contest. What a world we live in!
Earlier this year, I was concerned about doing this blog without having the proper Tax ID setup, then it was concerns about the logo, then it was about tying together the brand, and ultimately it boiled down to being ready to get way more vulnerable online than I ever had before.
In speaking with a couple of very close confidants back in September, I decided to shove all that garbage off the table and just take action. In one night, I had secured the site name and authored my first blog post. This was truly the first ‘bare’ post online since the mid 1990’s when I uncovered an emerging need for people that knew how to register domain names and host some incredibly shitty websites compared to what we have today.
Since then, this project continues to gain momentum with a number of posts in queue – ready to be shared when the time is right. As of this post – I now have a truly professional logo and branding guide – while leveraging an existing framework for the underlying look and feel of the site. It took me longer to decide to kickstart this project than to actually get the content flowing and the rest of the dominos continue to get knocked down. Momentum and discipline are breeding more of each.
In the past few days, word of this site has spread a bit wider to a few additional friends and family for specific feedback as I intend to more broadly launch this blog in the January timeframe – due to a number of end of year commitments. I will continue to publish content, and prepare for the upcoming launch that will take the EnergyandAction brand out to a much broader community including the general public.
As I continue to discover how best to share my lessons learned over the past few years and revisit many lessons learned decades ago – it has become very obvious to me – that I need to share a bit more of my story. I’ll do so in the context of given topics, and to assist those men out there that are lost in some way.
Continuing to sharpen the message, my voice, and quality of content – all keys as the launch countdown continues.
